I was asked to create an instructional DVD on the Nutcracker for the TX Ballet located in Dallas.
I had a one week turnaround to:
- Schedule, shoot, and edit an interview
- Edit footage from previous Nutcracker performance and practice sessions
- Create an interactive DVD with:
- an intro
- overview for teachers
- full nutcracker story voiceover with performance footage
- story with explanatory summary slides
- clip showing what ballet dancers go through to prepare
- 5 activities for students
- Burn 100 DVDs
- Print artwork on all DVDs
- Design and print DVD insert
- Put together inserts and DVDs in to cases
I had to do all the DVD authoring and duplication since none of the DVD production companies had any bandwidth in the short amount of time required.
I made the deadline by the hair of my chiny chin chin thanks to many sleepless nights! The DVDs were sent to schools near the theater on time as promised by the client. He was very thankful.
On another note…
The next week, my son’s school had a book fair. It seemed quite serendipitous this sticker would be there. I may have been a littler grouchier than I thought because my son didn’t find it funny.
